Wrinkle Fillers for the Face

Injectable skin fillers have added new dimensions to the field of cosmetic dermatology, allowing new forms of facial rejuvenation and wrinkle treatment without surgery. Injectable skin and wrinkle fillers are used to increase tissue volume (as with lip augmentation), reduce wrinkles, and improve skin’s overall contour.

Facial lines begin to appear as the under-lying collagen and elastin fibers break down and wear out. Wrinkles are part of the natural aging process, but can also be the result of excessive squinting, frowning and smiling.

To get rid of wrinkles and folds or to improve the image of your lips we recommend Wrinkle Treatments using Dermal Wrinkle Fillers, such as Restylane, Juvederm, Radiesse, and Perlane. They are based on non-animal Hyaluronic acid, which occurs naturally in the body and dissolves naturally with time. The Wrinkle Treatments are performed by injecting the select Wrinkle Filler (i.e. Restylane, Juvederm or Perlane) into the skin or lips. On average it takes approximately 30 minutes and the result is prompt. Other wrinkle fillers such as Sculptra and Radiesse are based on other materials, which are also safe and provide immediate results.

Reactions are rare, but mild side effects may include: swelling tenderness, pain itching and discomfort around the injection site, minor bruising which will all disappear within a few days. Visible changes are immediate and last several months depending on factors like the filler being used, skin structure, lifestyle and age. Most people choose to repeat treatments every six months (except Radiesse which usually lasts much longer).

Most people find the treatment relatively painless, but you may notice a slight pricking sensations during the injection. Depending on the area you're treating, a topical or numbing injection may be available, if you desire.
