Liposuction (for Men & Women)
Liposuction is a routine cosmetic surgery performed by many plastic surgeons. It is also the most popular surgical cosmetic procedure in the United States.Liposuction, also known as lipoplasty ("fat modeling"), liposculpture or suction lipectomy ("suction-assisted fat removal") is a cosmetic surgery operation that removes fat from many different sites on the human body. Areas affected can range from the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, to the neck, backs of the arms and elsewhere.
Often used in conjunction with other plastic surgery techniques, liposuction removes pockets of fat from troublesome areas such as the thighs, hips, abdomen, and upper arms. Liposuction procedures vary depending on what your ultimate cosmetic goal is, and whether you are combining liposuction with other plastic surgery procedures.
There are several factors that limit the amount of fat that can be safely removed in one session. Ultimately, the operating physician and the patient make the decision. There are negative aspects to removing too much fat. Unusual "lumpiness" and/or "dents" in the skin can be seen in those patients "over-suctioned". The more fat removed the higher the surgical risk.
Liposuction is no longer a taboo. Every day hundreds of Beverly Hills and Los Angeles men and women undergo body contouring with liposuction. Furthermore, more and more people are now caring about the way they look. Men want to have the chiseled abs, and women want to have the hour-glass figure. People are no longer satisfied with what God gave them or what they could achieve with exercises and dieting. They want the perfect body! With liposuction, Lipectomy, or liposculpture they can now shape their face, neck, chest, arms, abdomen, thighs, hips, buttocks, back, and calves.
We have all heard of the latest gadgets available for liposuction! Commercial manufactures of medical equipment are constantly advertising the latest in miracle liposuction machines which perform- Lipozap, ultrasonic liposuction, power assisted liposuction, and Mesotherapy.
Before choosing a liposuction surgeon, you should learn as much as you can about the different practitioners in your area. You will want to ask lots of questions, view before and after photos of previous patients, and find out how many liposuction procedures the surgeon has performed in the past. Watch out for hard sells and overblown claims; a good surgeon should rely on his or her skill rather than exaggerated promises.
