But if you have noticed that your cheeks are a bit rosier than normal without you having to add blush, you may be suffering from a skin condition called “rosacea.” So, what is rosacea and how can you tell if you have it? From persistent redness to frequent blushing, this article will list three signs that you may have rosacea. Read on to learn more.

Persistent Redness

As an adult, you know what is normal for your skin and what is abnormal. You know that if you spend a long day outside, you are likely to have red skin and that if you run a few miles or exercise, your skin is more flushed than usual. However, if you have started to notice that your skin— especially around your nose and cheeks— are redder than usual without any of these contributors, then you may have rosacea.

Pimples

If you have acne, then it may be hard for you to distinguish between acne and rosacea. When you have rosacea, you can expect to have small, pus-filled pimples across your face that typically burn. Additionally, rosacea induced pimples typically don’t have blackheads like normal acne.

Frequent Blushing

Do you blush and become flushed when you get embarrassed, nervous, or hot? You may think that this is fairly normal when in actuality, frequent blushing is one of the biggest symptoms of rosacea.

If left untreated, rosacea can cause your skin to burn and become especially inflamed and irritated. If you have one or all of these symptoms, schedule an appointment with Dr. Gregory Wiener. During your initial appointment, you will be examined for not only rosacea but other skin conditions as well. Contact our office today to schedule an appointment!

Nobody wants to look washed out— especially if you are going out for the night or headed to a big event.
