Jogging woman in sports bra checks her watch to monitor her running time.Breast augmentation is never a one-size-fits-all procedure. Every woman has a unique figure, lifestyle, and vision for how she wants to look and feel. That’s why Dr. Gregory Wiener, a board-certified plastic surgeon in Chicago with over two decades of experience, approaches breast augmentation with a personalized, detail-driven strategy. Known for delivering natural, balanced results, Dr. Wiener carefully considers both anatomical and lifestyle factors to ensure each woman receives the best possible outcome tailored to her needs.

Why Body Type Matters in Implant Selection

No two bodies are exactly alike, and neither are breast augmentation results. Women with a petite frame often benefit from smaller implants that enhance their breasts without overwhelming the chest or altering posture. Taller or broader-chested women may be able to accommodate larger implants more comfortably. The width of the chest wall, existing breast tissue, and skin elasticity all factor into implant type, shape, and size. During a consultation, Dr. Wiener performs detailed measurements and uses advanced imaging tools to visualize different outcomes before finalizing a recommendation.

How Lifestyle Affects Your Surgical Plan

Active lifestyles can play a major role in the planning process. Women who engage in weightlifting, running, yoga, or other high-impact sports may prefer implants that feel lighter and are less likely to interfere with athletic performance. Dr. Wiener helps his patients select an implant size and profile that complements their routine while still achieving noticeable results. Implant placement also matters. Women with active lifestyles may be better suited for submuscular placement, which adds tissue coverage and can reduce visible rippling in leaner individuals.

Planning for Longevity and Confidence

Every woman wants to feel confident and comfortable after surgery — not just in how she looks but in how she moves and lives. Dr. Wiener’s careful attention to detail, from incision placement to implant material, ensures the procedure is tailored for long-term satisfaction. Whether the goal is a subtle enhancement or a more dramatic transformation, the most successful results come from aligning aesthetic preferences with practical considerations like activity level and body frame.

A doctor holding a silicone breast implant in their handUnderstanding the differences between silicone breast implants and saline breast implants can help you achieve the desired outcome and make an informed decision for your future.

In this blog, we’ll explore why choosing the right type of breast implant is vital for you. We will also discuss the difference between silicone and saline implants.

Why Choosing the Right Type of Breast Implant is Important

The choice between silicone and saline breast implants can significantly impact the results of your breast augmentation procedure, as well as your overall satisfaction. You need to consider factors such as feel, appearance, longevity, and potential risks to ensure the best possible outcome. Your results should align with your aesthetic goals and lifestyle.

Silicone vs. Saline – Which One is Right For You?

Silicone implants consist of a silicone outer shell filled with silicone gel. They are known for providing a more natural look and feel, closely resembling the texture of natural breast tissue. Silicone implants are less likely to ripple or wrinkle. They are generally suitable for those individuals who seek a fuller, more rounded breast appearance.

On the other hand, saline implants are composed of a silicone shell filled with a sterile saline solution (saltwater). While they tend to be slightly firmer and may feel less natural compared to silicone implants, saline implants offer the advantage of adjustability during surgery.

The surgeon can fill them to the desired volume. Additionally, in the event of a rupture, saline implants deflate visibly and harmlessly, whereas silicone implants may require an MRI to detect rupture.

Breast Augmentation Chicago, ILOne of the things that patients want to know most is how much breast augmentation will cost them. The tricky thing about augmentations is that they typically range from about $6,000-$12,000, which is a huge gap. So what makes some augmentations cost more than others?

Your Geographic Location

Unfortunately, when you live in a large city like Chicago, you are typically going to pay more money for a breast augmentation that you would if you were in rural Montana. Why? Because the cost of living across the board is much higher in larger cities. Plus, when you have surgery done in a city like Chicago, you have more access to prestigious surgeons.

The Type of Implant that you Want

Typically saline implants cost a lot less than both silicone or gummy bear implants. During your initial consultation with Dr. Wiener, he will let you old each type of implant in your hand so that you can feel what the difference is like.  He will also discuss the pros and cons of every type of implant to help you make an educated decision.

How Experienced Your Surgeon Is

Another thing that you pay for when you get a breast augmentation is the experience that the surgeon has. Typically, surgeons like Dr. Wiener who have years of experience with breast augmentation will charge more than those who just graduated from medical school.

When it comes to breast augmentations it’s safe to say that you get what you pay for. Here at our office, we have financing options to help our patins get the series they want without all the stress of paying for it. If you want to learn more about augmentations, contact our Chicago office and call (773) 763-3990.

Breast Procedures Chicago, ILAny type of surgery comes with some potential risks and complications. Although exceptionally rare, some breast augmentation patients may suffer from complications or side effects. One of the best ways that you can prevent these complications from developing into something more serious is to be mindful of how your body is healing and know what signs to look for. Let’s take a closer look at a few signs that you may have a post-op infection.

Pus at the incision site

Having some fluid drain from your incision site is completely normal as your body’s healing after surgery. If, however, you notice that it looks like pus is coming out of your incision, then this may be a sign that you are developing an infection. Have a friend or family member take a closer look at the skin around your stitches. Does it look red, irritated, and infected? If so, schedule an appointment with Dr. Gregory Wiener right away.

Flu-Like Symptoms

If you start experiencing flu-like symptoms while you’re recovering like fever, chills, sweats, and aches when you may be suffering from an infection— especially if symptoms come on rather quickly. Call our office right away if you experience these symptoms while you are recovering.

Increased Pain and Swelling

After a week or two, the swelling around your breasts should go down substantially, and the pain should wear off. If you have noticed that the pain and swelling haven’t gone down or have gotten worse, these are other signs of infection.

Resting, cleaning your incision site, massaging your breasts, and taking good care of yourself while you’re in recovery will help make sure you don’t get an infection. Although very rare, if you experience any of the symptoms listed above, don’t hesitate to give our office a call. To learn more about breast augmentations or breast augmentation surgery, schedule an appointment at our Chicago office today and call (773) 763-3990.

Breast Augmentation Chicago ILIf you were to ask the average person what they think of when they hear the term”cosmetic or plastic surgery,” you can bet that a breast augmentation would come to mind. As one of the most consistently popular forms of cosmetic surgeries, breast augmentations continue to be the most desired form around. In fact, according to some statistics posted by The American Association of Plastic Surgeons, breast augmentation surgeries were up by 4% in 2016 from 2015. But why? Let’s take a closer look.

They Help With Self Esteem

As much as we hate to admit it, a lot of your self-esteem relies on how you feel about your appearance. And women who have larger breasts, tend to feel more confident about their bodies— especially when they’re in tight fitting clothing and swimming suits.

Additionally, some women choose to get a breast augmentation because they suffer from asymmetrical breasts which can also lead to poor self-esteem. Luckily, with a breast augmentation and other potential breast surgeries, Dr. Gregory Wiener can help make your breasts symmetrical.

They Add Balance

If you’re a curvy woman with small breasts, you may not feel like your body is proportionate. However, with a breast augmentation from Dr. Gregory Wiener, you can get the size of breasts that match your body type almost perfectly.

Image Means Something

If there’s one thing that social media has taught everyone it’s that if your image isn’t everything, it sure is a lot. By posting pictures of yourself eating at fancy restaurants, taking lavish vacations, driving nice cars, and looking your best, you can turn from a nobody to a somebody with more and more followers. And although some people may argue that this way of living is unhealthy, it is also something that many young people enjoy being a part of. If you want to look your best— especially on social media— surgical procedures like breast implants will help you feel confident posting pictures of yourself in a bikini.

Breast implants help with a woman’s self-esteem in more than one way. If you want to learn more about breast augmentations, contact our Chicago office today at (773) 763-3990.

Breast Augmentation Chicago, ILAs the most consistently popular plastic surgery procedure, breast augmentations can give you the body that you have always desired.

By surgically placing either saline or silicone implant under or on top of your breast muscle, you will get larger breasts that will make you ready to flaunt your new body in a bikini. However, before you hop into that yellow polka-dot bikini, you have to do one of the most important parts of a breast augmentation: recovery.

To ensure that you have a speedy recovery, we have created a brief guide listing the steps to use when cleaning your incision site. Read on to learn more.

Call Today to Schedule an Appointment Today

Step 1: Wash Your Hands

Before you touch your bandages or get near your incision site, the best thing you can do is wash your hands. Using warm water and soap, you can get off any dirt, germs, or harmful bacteria that can cause an infection.

Step 2: Take off the Dressing

Carefully remove the tape from your skin and remove the bandages from your incision site. If this is your first time changing it, your cotton bandage may stick a little to your incision because of dried blood— don’t rip it off. Instead, gently peel it back so that you don’t disrupt the stitches.

Step 3: Clean It

Using warm, soapy water, take either a cotton pad or clean washcloth and clean the wound. Avoid scrubbing too hard but try to get off any dried blood. If you notice any severe redness, inflammation, or pus, these could be signs that it’s infected and you need to call Dr. Gregory Wiener’s office right away. If the incision site looks normal, continue to cleanse it.

Step 4: Apply the New Dressing

Using clean hands once again, apply the new, clean bandages and tape to your incision site— trying to leave it taut against the skin but not too tight.

Keeping your incision site clean after a breast augmentation is one of the best ways to make sure that you have a safe and speedy recovery. To learn more recovery tips, contact Dr. Gregory Wiener’s office today and schedule an appointment!

Breast Augmentation Chicago, ILCandy isn’t just used to fill Easter baskets with and to hide from your already hyper children. In fact, Dr. Gregory Wiener offers patients a few candy based treatment options to choose from. Whether you like gummy bears or jelly beans, this article will discuss how these two candies are more than just a sweet treat. Read on to learn more.

Gummy Bears

Gummy bears aren’t just a fun multicolored treat to bring to the movie theater. In fact, gummy bear implants are a popular type of implant that we offer our patients. Made out of silicone, gummy bear implants give patients a more natural look and feel than other types of implants. Additionally, unlike traditional silicone or saline implants that are round, gummy bear implants are shaped like a teardrop which will give you a more natural looking appearance.

Jelly Beans

Jelly beans aren’t just fun to eat on Easter, but they are fun to eat all year round. With fun flavors like popcorn and cherry, they’re always a big hit. However, Dr. Gregory Wiener likes to use jelly beans for something a bit different: a jelly bean facial. By starting with a sweet grape scented enzyme treatment, your skin will be infused with anti-aging polyphenols. After you are done smelling like a grape jelly bean, we will use our jellybean marble mask to hydrate and oxygenate your skin.

Skin care and surgical treatments don’t have to be so serious all of the time. Here at Dr. Gregory Wiener’s office, we like to spice things up and make them a bit more fun by offering treatments like gummy bear implants and jelly bean facials. Each with unique benefits, you know that you will leave our office looking and feeling like a whole new you. If you would like to learn more about these individual treatments or to schedule a consultation appointment, contact Dr. Gregory Wiener today!

Both silicone and saline implants have a lifespan towards the upwards of twenty years. If you have had your breast implants for over fifteen years and are wondering when you will need to have your breast redone, read on.

Breast Augmentation

  • An X-Ray
The best way to tell if you need to have your breast implants redone or not is to have an x-ray done on them. After you receive an x-ray of both of your breasts, your plastic surgeon will be able to analyze the x-ray in order to determine if your breasts need to be redone or not. Your doctor will be looking for any signs of deflation, any movement that may have taken place, and the overall state of your implant.
  • Deflation
Although rare, both silicone and saline implants can rupture or deflate due to either old age or to impact. So how can you tell if your breasts have deflated? If you have saline implants, the deflation process will happen right away and it will be very noticeable. Because saline is just salt water, your body will have an easy and safe time with absorbing it into your bloodstream. However, if you have silicone implants then you likely won’t be able to tell if your breast implants have deflated for a few weeks. Because silicone take longer to leak out of your implants and takes a little bit longer to be absorbed by your body, results won’t be as noticeable as with saline implants.
  • Different Sizes
The longer your implants sit in your body for, the more wear and tear they are exposed to. One fairly prevalent indication that you need to have your breasts redone is if you notice that they are different sizes. Because your breasts are considered to be two separate entities, they can deflate, reshape themselves, or even move at different times— leaving you looking and feeling a bit lopsided.

It can be hard to determine when you need to have your breasts redone. However, by either getting an x-ray, watching for deflation or noticing any changes in your breast size, you can have a better understanding of when you need to go into the doctor.

Breast correctionAs the most popular form of plastic surgery in the world, breast augmentation surgery is a common procedure that many women undergo each day. If you’re considering getting breast augmentation surgery or even have your appointment booked, one of the biggest things to be aware of is the recovery process. From what to expect in the recovery room to what to expect for the month following surgery, this article will address all phases of a normal breast augmentation recovery process.

After Surgery

Directly after surgery your breast will be wrapped in a thick gauze material and you will be placed in a recovery room where you will be monitored for typically around two hours. They will monitor your heart rate, your blood pressure, and the surgical site to make sure there isn’t any immense bleeding occurring.

All Clear

Once you’ve been cleared to go home, your doctor will likely recommend that you rest for about two to three days— plus due to the pain medications that you will be on, you’re likely not going to want to do anything else besides rest.

Rest Time

Additionally after you have rested for a couple of days, your doctor will also probably recommend that you wear a medical sports bra for the next two to three weeks. This specially designed sports bra will support your breasts in a way that other sports bras aren’t designed to. Among wearing this sports bra, and if suggested by your doctor, gently massage the breast tissue around your breasts in order to break it up. This is crucial to not only ensure that your breasts heal properly but that they also look and feel more natural.

While you are resting at home you will be required to avoid exercise for the first two weeks and any sort of lifting for another month post surgery. Once you have been cleared to start lifting again and have been given the okay to remove your medical sports bra, you can resume life as usual but with more confidence and with a body that you’ve always wanted.
