man keeping hand on chin and looking awayYou have probably heard about Botox because it is a household name, after all, but you may not know when to get Botox or if this hugely popular wrinkle treatment is right for you. Here are some quick facts about Botox treatment.

  1. Botox is a safe and effective injectable that temporarily smooths out lines and wrinkles in the upper one-third of the face. These wrinkles are called dynamic wrinkles as they form when a muscle contracts during facial expressions such as smiling, laughing or frowning.
  2. The most common treatment options are horizontal forehead lines, crow’s feet around the eyes and the vertical “11” lines between the eyebrows. Botox works by relaxing the muscles underneath these areas and smoothing out the lines and wrinkles.
  3. In addition to its cosmetic use, Botox also has been proven as a successful treatment for severe underarm sweating.
  4. Botox treatment is not successful when addressing static lines and wrinkles, which are wrinkles that are always present. Sun damage, aging, genetics and lifestyle are all to blame for these lines, which are successfully treated by dermal fillers. Botox and dermal fillers can be used to successful treat all lines and wrinkles, enhancing your results.
  5. One of the biggest reasons why Botox is so popular other than the amazing results is the fact that this treatment only takes about 10-20 minutes, so you can return to normal activities once you leave the office after getting injections. You may notice some redness, but that should subside within a day.
  6. Results will show in just a few days as it takes time to relax the muscles and release the wrinkles. Botox results will last for 3-5 months, at which time you may need to return for more injections to maintain results.
  7. Ideal candidates for Botox are patients who are in good health and have a positive outlook and realistic expectations for results.

What If We Changed the Way We Thought of Aging? https://www.theartofplasticsurgery.com/changed-way-thought-aging/ Thu, 15 Mar 2018 07:34:16 +0000 https://www.theartofplasticsurgery.com/?p=1199 When you’re young, you think you are invincible. Botox® Chicago, ILWhen you’re young, you think you are invincible. You do dumb things like climb fences and jump off roofs, and you do even dumber things like not protect your skin from the sun’s harsh rays. Can you even count how many times you had a sunscreen when you were little?

Now that you’re an adult, you are likely a little— or a lot— more cautious than you were as a kid. You never forget your seatbelt, you try to eat your fruits and vegetables, and you hopefully don’t forget to wear sunscreen every day. There are some things from our childhood— like sun damage— that we simply can’t reverse which can result in things like fine lines and wrinkles. But because we can’t go back and take back the days of sunburns, we can only live in the present. Which is why we want to ask, what if we changed the way we thought of aging?

Stop It Before It Gets Worse

It used to be that patients would start to get Botox and fillers when they reached the age when their fine lines and wrinkles really started to bug them. What if we encouraged patients in their twenties and thirties— who don’t even have deep wrinkles yet— to start getting Botox? Even though some young people have started using Botox as a preventative form of aging, not everyone has. Because Botox works by temporarily freezing your facial muscles and not allowing you to make movements that cause wrinkles, it can essentially work as an anti-aging tool.

Rather than dealing with aging as soon as you age, why not deal with it sooner? Are you ready to learn more about Botox and dermal fillers? Schedule your consultation with Dr. Gregory Wiener at our Chicago office today: (773) 763-3990.

Botox® Chicago, ILDebunking myths— especially about Botox— may be one of our favorite ways to introduce patients to the facts and fictions surrounding popular procedures. As three myths that we haven’t previously addressed, this article will discuss how Botox isn’t permanent, how it can’t prevent you from developing wrinkles, and how it won’t give you botulism. Read on to learn more.

Myth #1: It’s Permanent

No matter how many times you get Botox injections, it will not be permanent. One of the biggest things to be aware of when you are considering getting Botox is that it is temporary. Lasting around 3-4 months on average, Botox can give patients real results, but it will need to be re-administered every couple of months for you to maintain your youthful look.

Myth #2: It Prevents You From Developing Wrinkles

Although there is a common myth circulating the fact that Botox can prevent you from developing further wrinkles later on down the line, it doesn’t work in the way that you think. Rather than actually preventing your skin from forming wrinkles entirely, Botox works on the muscular level to help constrict your muscle and facial movement which in turn, makes it harder for wrinkles to form.

Myth #3: It Gives Your Botulism

Botulism is a bacterial infection that is typically derived from food or soil and causes paralyzes or even death. Derived from this same bacteria, botulinum A (Botox) is a strand that is sterile and harm-free— meaning that you won’t have to worry about getting sick.

Whether you have fine lines and wrinkles across your face and forehead, you want to restrict movement near your mouth, or you just want to look more youthful, Botox may as well be considered your best friend. To learn more about Botox and whether or not it’s beneficial to you. Contact Dr. Gregory Wiener today!

botoxOftentimes, people— both male and female— are hesitant to get any type of dermal injections or fillers because they are worried that they may start to look a bit “plastic”. And let’s face it, we have all seen a few people who look less than human and more like a plastic doll after they have received too many fillers and injections. As such, injectables such as Botox tend to get a bad name among the eyes of many— being associated with a less than natural end product. However, Botox has consistently remained the most popular injectable on the market for years and shows no sign of slowing down. And this is because it can deliver great results while helping you to look natural. So, how can you avoid being associated with the plastics and get an all-natural look with Botox? Read on to learn more.

Use a Trusted Professional
If you were to Google “Botox Injections” in your area, dozens and dozens of shops and locations would come up. However, many of those locations would offer Botox that isn’t administered by a certified doctor or professional— which means that you are literally putting your face into the hands of someone who isn’t an expert. Luckily, when you come into Dr. Gregory Wiener’s office, you can ensure that time after time, your Botox injections will be done by a professional whom you can trust.

Communicate
One of the best ways for you to leave Dr. Gregory Wiener’s office with the results that you are hoping for is to communicate with him regarding what you want. Although doctors wish they were mind readers, they unfortunately aren’t. Which means that the better you articulate what end result you want with Dr. Wiener, the more likely you are to receive those types of results.

Go Small
Sometimes in the world of plastic surgery and cosmetics, patients assume that you should, “Go big, or go home.” However, in order to get the best, most natural results with Botox, it’s best to start out with a small area on your face and see how you like those results— then if you feel like you could use more, come back in to see Dr. Wiener and he will give you more.

Get the most natural look with Botox by using the tips above. To schedule your Botox appointment today, contact Dr. Gregory Wiener.
